01 - Combine oats, milk, vanilla extract, and salt in a medium saucepan.
02 - Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
03 - Cook for 6–8 minutes, or until the oats are creamy and have absorbed most of the liquid.
04 - Remove from heat and divide the oats between two bowls.
05 - Top each bowl with sliced figs, chopped almonds, a drizzle of honey or maple syrup, and, if desired, chia seeds and cinnamon.
06 - Serve immediately while warm.
